Kala AI LLC ("Kala," "we," "us," or "our") operates the Kala mobile application and the website getkala.ai. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect your personal information when you use our app and services.
Information We Collect
When you create an account and use Kala, we collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: email address and authentication credentials (via Apple Sign-In or email and password)
- Birth details: date of birth, place of birth, and birth country, provided by you during personalization setup to generate your personal timing model
- Birth-time information: the time you provide and your confidence in its accuracy. If you do not know your exact birth time, you may select "I'm not sure," and Kala uses a guidance path that does not depend on birth-time precision
- Current city: provided by you when you access location-dependent features such as daily timing guidance
- Life context: your responses to onboarding questions about current priorities and circumstances
- Chat messages: the questions and messages you submit through the app
- Subscription and purchase information: managed by Apple (App Store) and RevenueCat
- Usage data: app interactions, feature usage, and error logs used to maintain and improve the service
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve Kala's services:
- To generate your personal timing model from your birth details and life context
- To produce personalized guidance, reports, and chat responses
- To manage your account, subscription, and access
- To provide customer support
- To monitor and improve app performance and reliability
We do not use your personal information for advertising or marketing purposes. We do not sell, rent, or lease your personal information to third parties.
AI Processing and Third-Party Data Sharing
Kala uses Anthropic, a third-party AI processing provider, to generate your personalized guidance and chat responses. Depending on the feature you use, Kala may send Anthropic:
- Your personal model and relevant profile context
- Your birth date, birth time, birthplace, and birth country when generating a Blueprint Report
- Your current city and timezone when relevant to live guidance
- Your onboarding responses and other personal context you provide
- The questions and messages you submit
- Relevant recent conversation history and conversation summaries needed to maintain continuity
Kala does not send your email address or precise latitude and longitude coordinates to Anthropic.
This information is sent to Anthropic solely to generate your Kala guidance and responses. It is not used by Kala or Anthropic for advertising or marketing. Kala accesses Anthropic's services through their commercial API, which is governed by Anthropic's commercial terms. Under these terms, data sent through the API is not used by Anthropic to train their AI models.
To maintain continuity between conversations, Kala may create and store a summary of recent chat context. This summary may include personal details you shared in prior messages and may be included in future AI requests so Kala can respond with relevant context.
We do not disclose personal profile data or chat content to third parties except the service providers needed to operate Kala, as described in this policy, or when required by law. Payment processing is handled by Apple and RevenueCat according to their respective privacy policies.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on secure servers hosted by Supabase (PostgreSQL database) and Google Cloud. We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and follow standard security practices to protect your information. Access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel only.
Your Rights
You can request a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your account and associated data. To make any of these requests, email us at privacy@getkala.ai. We will respond within 30 days.
You can also delete your account directly within the app by going to Settings and tapping "Delete my account." This permanently removes your profile, personal model, guidance history, and report content from our active systems. Deleting your Kala account does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription. You must manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple account settings.
Children's Privacy
Kala is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
